Our Philosophy Of Care

Excellent maternity care is comprehensive and flexible to respond to the clinical and social needs of each family.

We know that every woman, baby and family is unique and will have different needs depending on their own circumstances. We want to work in partnership to help every woman achieve the experience that is right for them.

Our team will ensure that you have the correct information to help you reach the choice and decisions that are right for you. When circumstances mean that the choice has to be changed, we will ensure that we provide information and an explanation for you to understand the reasons for this.

The care we give you follows “best practice” and is research based. We are continuously auditing our care and revising our working practices in the light of new evidence and the national service framework for maternity services.

Everyone on our team is committed to treat people with kindness, understanding and dignity and will respect the privacy, religious and cultural beliefs of families. We do our best to be very clear in our communication between healthcare professionals, women and their family members to help you feel like you are actively involved in decision making in your overall care.

Our key aim is to support you to have the best possible birth experience and to help ensure that you have a healthy baby.

Statutory Supervision Of Midwives Within The Maternity Unit

We ensures that mothers and babies receive safe care. Supervisors of midwives are experienced midwives who have received further training to apply and check standards. They talk to the users of maternity services to further develop guidelines and standards and review the services offered to ensure they meet local needs.

Supervisors of Midwives are experienced midwives who have had additional training and education to enable them to help midwives provide the best quality midwifery care. They oversee the work of the midwives and meet with them regularly to ensure that high standards of care are provided. They also guide and support midwives in developing their skills and expertise.
